La Bombonera naming rights up for grabs

La Bombonera stadium in Argentina appears set for a new title after it emerged that its owner, Primera División football club Boca Juniors, plans on selling the naming rights to the ground.

According to the Marketing Deportivo website, Chinese telecommunications company Huawei is the front-runner to take on the rights to the ground, which is officially known as the Estadio Alberto J. Armando.

Any agreement would become effective after 2017 and would reportedly cost between $5m (£3.8m/€4.5m) and $10m per year.

The stadium, which has a capacity of about 49,000, would become the first in Argentina to feature a company’s name in its title.
